Nope, this one looks way fuglier and has a hidden chainring bolt.

Naturally, this bike is partially tarck's fault.

No but also don't buy the IRD/soma one. They fucked up the spacing resulting in chainline problems and are refusing to admit fault. Big surprise.

So their generic Taiwanese crank, which costs more than the Sugino OX, is also crappier? Color me shocked.

I'll go to my grave wondering why Selle Italia doesn't understand that people just want to buy the Flite, like in a store. Not an internet reissue, not a vintage one on eBay, not the new one that isn't really a Flite.

They just want to walk into a fucking store and buy a goddamn Flite.

My Flite Gel Flow is starting to DEG LOVE, but they stopped making the 130mm width version 10 years ago. I might have to try out one of the new SLR models.

I still have one of the OG Flites, but it lives on the tarck bike.

I got my Flite reupholstered, it was $50 (in 2011 or something) from a guy in texas: http://www.recoveredcycling.com/ It worked fine, and the saddle is still on a bike of mine.

I mean, I totally agree that Selle Italia should sell the thing that everyone wants to buy, but hey, it's their market to slowly lose, I guess.

edit: mine was also a Gel Flow, and he filled in the gaps where the gel had once been

that's what I was wondering.
At first I thought it included a M6 crown hole for caliper brakes but nope.

Maybe starnut doesn't allow dynamo switch wiring to pass through the edges?

You could bend/break off one of the star nut tabs and still have enough strength to hold things in place.

If someone on here did it, I'd probably like it. Since it was done by someone I don't know, they're a fucking idiot.

Exactly. A star nut costs like a buck, and anyone who tinkers with bikes has a few of them in their box. Just drill it and jam in a new one. I've literally never considered doing it any other way.

Never thought of a drill, a couple extra spacers and cranking the bolt always does the trick for me.

Enough to bust up the nut, probably. The drill is real bike shop guy solution: I pull ≈ 0.2 star nuts a year so whatever is at hand is easier than digging out the drill and going to town.

All the shops I've worked at and the few I've hung out at enough to see them work I've never witnessed a drill being used for this, might be a regional thing. I can also count the number of times I've had to remove a star fangled nut on one hand, so...

Speaking of, I do not own a star nut tool and I definitely should. What's the tool du jour?

Until recently I've only ever used the Park tool above. Motorbacon came by with a super fancy type that had a sleeve to idiot-proof it even more which is awesome. I can't even imagine using a dowel or piece of pipe. I mean, I'm sure it'll work but holy shit it makes my skin crawl to use the wrong tool sometimes.
