Hot take: NFE fork failures have less to to with crown / blade combo and more to do with the canopener nature of the Wetmore style IS mount. Bad stress concentrator right in the thinwall of the tubing. I'm gonna FEA before I make something like that.

worse, since for some reason they picked this frame to start using pencil seatstays

most SOMA disc models still use fat double-taper seatstays that actually exist to resist canti post twist

and this one also uses the cursed fork crown! http://www.cycle-frames.com/bicycle-frame-tubing/NOVA-CYCLE-X-FORK-CROWN-old-school-70mm-width-for-28.6mm-steerer.html

That buena vista is a prototype, fork is being changed. I've tried to talk to them about the dropouts but it's tough. Reported cases (to them) of dropout failure on the wolverine was something like below 2% so they're convinced that all the hubub is just blown out of proportion by Evan.

That's pretty legit, although without a front rack standard (or easily fitting a production rack), it comes up a little short. The color is hideous, but I could definitely buying a complete bike or frameset at a deep discount in a year.

The photographer had to get there somehow! Clearly, it's a staged photo, but even then the target market checks out, down to the profusion of framebags. (and I know that that is one of the Salsa guys)

Tue, 11/28/2017 - 17:14
mdilthey

Cass Gilbert said something like “Unlike Surly, Salsa has no intention of making any custom framebags or panniers for this bike.” So that means salsa designed, produced, and marketed a cargo bike with no bags, assuming that every single consumer knows a custom bagmaker, is capable of understanding what they want designed, and is ready to go in another $300+ over the asking price for the functionality that the bike was designed for.

And he said that you can’t put kids on it because Salsa makes no endorsement of carrying live cargo whatsoever. This is half-assery at its finest.
