No, fuck that. If a company isn't addressing a valid question about their product, they're being buttholes. Especially if they claim to hate expensive bike parts and then mark up a product by 280% MSRP for slapping a dumb-looking logo on it. smiley

Just ride your fucking bike and don't be a dick about it.

yeah but what, you expect them to admit that on social medias? Ain't gonna happen. and they could just point a finger at any other company that does the same shit. They just tryna make money using the "affordable" image.

I bet if mig emailed or messaged them privately instead of making a spectacle of it he could have gotten a reasonable response, but he just trolled instead.

Sure they're lameasses for all of that, but what do you expect? Isn't this why we all buy shit from Europe and thru shop deals?

Is saddle tilt indexed or infinite?

RE: derpers.

It seems like the PNW/Trans-X version has infinite tilt adjustment, but the ExaForm or KindShock ones would possibly have indexed saddle tilt adjustment. Also from looking at pics it seems like the latter two would offer more setback.

Trying to decide. Did a sweet ride yesterday and really wished I had a dropper on my 29er would have helped avoid a couple of ballslappers.

The ks eten is indexed (ed-indexed saddle tilt, infinite height adj.). Installed one on sup's bike earlier this month. Exaform vareo looks like same post, but can't confirm this.

On that bike, the lack of thru-axles is excusable. The threaded headset is inexcusable. At least it has replaceable dangler hangler.

Bizarre combination of trendy modern features and retrogrouchy anachronisms. Segmented fork with diamond boss reinforcements and French bend? Just make a unicrown fork. Also funny that they suggest the segmented blades allow them to fine-tune the ride somehow, as if they had any idea what that means or how to accomplish it with disc brakes. Ovalized oversized top tube too, for good measure, bringing it full circle to the low trail quill stem long haul trucker that no one asked for

And it's ovalized to add "flexibility" in the plane of the frame where it's least effective.

They got to use whatever single-bend blades they wanted without having to design around the couple different fucked up wide-clearance crown castings that exist. From the pics it looks like they really did take advantage and use round-section tapered blades that were probably a lot easier to get custom drawn and bent.

Doing segmented instead of unicrown meant the blades are a simpler single-bend, and let them do the triple bosses without running out of room in the straight section.

also it doesn't fuckin need thru-axles

I'm just happy it has plain vertical dropouts with a replaceable hanger

bonus hidden feature, this might be their first frame in 10 years that has bosses for the custom nonstandard rack they make: https://store.velo-orange.com/index.php/accessories/racks-decaleurs/vo-randonneur-front-rack-stainless-steel.html

(unlike the Riv / Wetmore / Haulin Colin / Radlawn / SOMA standard I promoted, it puts the hourglass brazeons right where canti studs would be, making them mutually exclusive)

From the photos, I would guess there is plenty of straight-tube room for triple bosses on a unicrown blade with even the most gentle upper bend. I have a very hard time believing that the VO folks spent any time agonizing over "custom drawn and bent blades", it seems much more likely that they told the factory they wanted the fork 1) segmented 2) tight low bend 3) with all the requisite braze-ons, and left the factory to come up with a result that pleased their eye and also complied with whatever strength-requirement scruples the factory had, resulting in a fork that is almost surely just as turdly as a disc-safe unicrown design, if not more so, and is probably more expensive to manufacture as well.

Regarding the tt spec, did they dial back the diameter of the top tube in conjunction with the ovalizing? I was under the impression that they just squished the oversized tube vertically it in pursuit of some phantom compliance

Yeah, it's not like the seat is supported by the top tube just cantilevered off the head tube. One wonders whether the "designers" know this and just say it because the casual audience eats it up, or if they believe it themselves

I actually didn't really like the ECR that I demo'd for a couple weeks. It was more turdly than a krampug. Sure, you could cycle the entire continent of Africa with it, but if you're not doing that it's massive overkill.
