Man, the new Trek Full Stache has got me thinking about spending money that I shouldn't spend:

You're right you shouldn’t. There isn’t a trail for a thousand miles(this almost isn’t hyperbole) in any direction of you that would be more fun on that bike than on a hard tail anything.

Maybe if you want to do some alpine freeride shale surfing tho.

Because of the full stache, I'm getting a very lightly used regular stache for cheap so I'm about it.

there's a real reason plastic/ti/fancy steel superbikes sell. In the same vein as why people wear bibs. They are in fact really awesome.

The most basic 105 carbon bikes today are fucking light years better than almost anything the pros rode even a decade ago. And every major brand has an aluminum full-fledged race bike which is nearly identical to the equivalent carbon offering. Idiots love to complain about the price of bikes, but it's literally never been cheaper and easier to get a rad bike.

11 speed liquid disc carbon bikes are rad as heck.
the sup has a fuji 105 aluminum juan and it's super cool. I need to get some lighter wheels for it but otherwise it's super nice for $800 ish

My brother bought a new carbon Giant TCR with 11-speed 105 for just over a bong last fall, including tubeless-ready wheels. It's pretty sweet all around.

Seriously, this thing is an amazing bike.
Felt ridiculous and awesome to put a leather saddle and spds (and a framebag) on it but I'm sooooo glad I brought my own saddle.

Bar angle not by me.

Seriously are you that epic that you need that much shit on every ride? Part of what I like about taking out the go fast bike is carrying next to nothing and banging out the miles.

If someone on here did it, I'd probably like it. Since it was done by someone I don't know, they're a fucking idiot.

I used to do that because my pump only fit in the big bag. Not a co2 fan. That plus a lock and a tube was happier low on the frame rather than high in jersey pockets.

yep same here. My jandd frame bag carries everything that used to live in my jersey pockets, and has room for a few extra snacks too. All around better.

2 granola bars left pocket, phone middle pocket, CO2 (or Lysene mini) and drink tablet case right pocket. Barely know the stuff's there. Spare tire is under seat.

Good for any road ride. If the ride is epic, there's food and drink along the way. Otherwise, did 80 last weekend no problemo. You're missing out on the minimalizing and feel of a light bike.

Jumping on the road bike with nothing but a minimal flat kit, my phone and my bus pass is an awesome feeling. Especially the first time I do it after a winter of cross riding.

Add rubber band and a $20 and this was me up until a few years ago. Now I wear baggies and mtb shoes and stuff my panniers with a proper lunch, a joint, and a change of clothes if I'm going over 10mi.

You can have both.

I can't wait. I'm getting 700C carbon wheels for Coffeegrinder with no dyno. In about 10 minutes of labor I can shed the fenders, lights and other stuff and take it out on fast cruises

I'm restoring my Broakland road bike so that I can have a fast, unbagged undynoed ride. My Saila is awesomely perfect as a 3-8 hour ride bike, but I wouldn't mind having something I can fucking rage on for one or two hours at a go.

Have them.

I was initially pretty skeptical about the whole concept. Like why would I want to stick stuff on my legs, when I have perfectly good jersey pockets, frame bag, etc. But I decided the novelty was kind of intriguing, so I figured I’d give it a shot.

They’re pretty great actually. Best use case for me was to have my phone in one side and a vape pen in the other. It’s soooo much easier to get to them while riding than jersey pockets, which is awesome for stuff I want quick access to. The mesh on the pocket lies quite flat, so there’s no flapping around whether there is anything in them or not.

The fabric for the main bib panels has an interesting feel. I guess theyre meant to have some water resistance, though I’ve yet to ride them in the rain. They do feel a bit warmer than most bibs, so maybe not so great for high summer.

Disclaimer: I got them for free.

This is great if it's 75 and sunny and you're in an area with accessible shops.

It's not so great if you need to carry a rain shell, armwarmers, etc for variable weather and there aren't shops on the roads you want to ride on.

What would you need from a shop that you couldn't carry in a pocket (tube, levers, co2, quicklink)? And my rain shell rolls up and fits on my pocket next to my phone. Bonus that it sticks out the top and looks more pro.

I remember when I used to do road rides... I do feel like my bikes handled better with crap in frame bag (that puts weight low and foward) instead of my pockets. Also have a water bottle I can fit flat kit in (including mini pump) for those rides when you only need one bottle to drink.

I'm not fast even on a stripped light bike, so I'd rather have a snack, some water, and an extra battery for my phone, and a camera, and take the time to use all those things when I'm out somewhere new.
