Mizu Life V6 Insulated Steel Bottle

So I got the Mizu Life V6 Stainless Steel Insulated Bottle a few months ago. I didn't really know anything about this company or their products before receiving it, so I figured I'd share some first impressions.

TL;DR: It initially looks like a low-quality insulated bottle, but performs well and is apparently pretty durable.

When I first saw it, I thought it looked a little cheesy. Comparing it to a similar Hydroflask makes it look pretty cheap. Mine has a translucent finish (they only do satin and raw now) and is segmented at the bottom, which lends to a lower perceived quality when compared to HF's satin, one-piece (looking) design. The default cap is steel with a sprung D-clip that can be rotated in a panel that's tack-welded to the cap, which again suggests a low build quality. After using it for a few months, I'm pretty darn satisfied with it. Its smaller mouth means you don't get any of the Nalgene splash (which I cannot stand), and probably contributes to better heat retention. The top is certainly the weakest point of insulation, and after 12 hours of holding hot coffee, that is the warmest part of the bottle. It does insulate quite well, and in my experience, their promise of 12-hour heat maintenance is totally valid (assuming you don't open it). If you're looking for an insulated bottle with a 16oz capacity, you will be happy with it.

I've broken 2 hydroflask lids so far which is a strike, but they also have replaced them for free.

Do you miss the lid/accessory compatibility on that Mizu bottle? Because the hydroflasks take standard nalgene threads.

Also, do you know if the threads on the Mizu are compatible with other bottles like the smaller hydroflasks or klean kanteens?

I've not missed compatibility so far, but then again, I use it pretty exclusively for coffee and coffee/brotein shake monstrosities, so idk.

RE threading: I don't actually know. I could measure the cap for you?

Just ride your fucking bike and don't be a dick about it.

I'd like that monstrosity recipe, please.

  • 25g brotein powder (I use the bulk vanilla stuff from the grocery store)
  • 15g hot cocoa mix (or cocoa powder for less sugar)
  • 150 ml almond milk (or your preferred milk-type thing)
  • 350 ml coffee

Shake and stir that shit good. I have accidentally made concrete-like protein powder pucks that sit on the bottom of the bottle, and let me tell you, that's hard to choke down.
