DeFeet Duraglove ET Hi Vis

My fall/spring gloves for the last couple years were Pearl Izumi Barrier gloves. I never really liked them because they weren't actually waterproof, and while they sorta blocked the wind, there wasn't enough insulation to keep your hands from being cold just by having them on the bars. The other thing was that my hands would get cold but they'd also be clammy because the gloves would block the wind.

I'd been looking at the DeFeet gloves for a while, and now that the touchscreen gloves were in the HiVis colors I decided to go for it. My hand measured around 8.5-9" around so according to their size chart I got a medium. Fit is snug, but that's how I like gloves like this. I wish the fingers were just a tiny tiny bit longer but about 30 seconds after I put them on I stop caring.

Been wearing them on my commute in the mornings and also one ride that was about 25 miles. The morning commutes have usually been between 40-50F. The longer ride was about 45F but there was a 30mph wind so the weather claimed that the "real feel" was 35F. Overall I'd say I'm happy with their performance. My hands never feel toasty warm, but they don't get super cold. The gloves don't really keep the wind off the back of your hand, but they do insulate you from the controls effectively. There was one time on the longer ride that my hands started going numb, but I can't say for sure if that was the cold or the rough roads making vibrations in my stiff alloy bars. The big plus to me is that I never get that clammy feeling like I did with the PI gloves. I think for me, they'd be good down to about 35F, past that I might try putting the PI gloves on top of the DeFeet.

The touchscreen feature is also nicer than I expected. You don't get the same sensitivity as your fingers obviously but it's nice to be able to check the phone/texts/strava/whatever without having to take the gloves off.

Final thing was the color. I got orange, and it's awesome. In the early evening on a cloudy day, my hands were basically glowing.

Overall really happy, especially given the price. They do pretty much what I expected them to do.

When it gets too cold for those alone, I throw thin merino liners under and they're perfect down to 25-30f.

Ordered a pair of the pink ones in size S. They sent XS. I want to like them, but the fit is insanely, unwearably bad. Super wide palm, and super short fingers. Going to exchange for a size S, but I think the way they're cut is just not a match for me. Bummer, because I was stoked on having hi-vis pink gloves with the touch screen capability. :(

I have long, skinny fingers and don't recall the XL I tried on working that well fit-wise.
