lol.

New guy, you don't have to explain all your stuff. We get it. We know how people get back into bikes and get a Riv. It's cool. Looks like you have enough mistakes under your belt to do okay on your newdler/ditherler.

I'd love it if the less frustrating third of VS came here and this forum's current crop of troll-y burnouts drifted off. Cycling forum Voltron, assemble!

Puel- your Kirk seems like a cool bike, and I totally get having a custom frame that's not doing exactly what you want, through no fault of the builder. I have a road bike with a 245mm head tube and a "slammed" -17 130mm stem, because my request for a bike that would be comfortable for long hours of riding made complete sense on paper, but in practice i can get comfortably low.
I've got a loose date with a local framebuilder to chop an inch off of the HT extension, putting it closer to where i want it to be.

Pay no mind. Level top tube and - 17 stem is pro. Just have Eric make up custom silver stem with stack built in. It will look real good.

If someone on here did it, I'd probably like it. Since it was done by someone I don't know, they're a fucking idiot.

Dude. Custom frame. Spacer stack. -17. This is a sign that things can be improved. A Kirk is not fucking pro. A Kirk is a really nice road bike that has nothing to do with being pro.

I mean yeah that's a different bike with a custom color matched stem with a tastefully minimal design that obviates the need for a spacer stack while hiding the bolt. It does indeed look good, and is neither the bike nor the phenomenon I was talking about.

I agree that -17 looks better on a bike with a level top tube.

Fair enough. I was talking about what the guy had actually wound up with, not possible remedies demanding further custom work. Sounds like the guy is largely walking away from the bike, tbh.

It was mainly vanity that drove the swap from a -6 stem to a -17 stem, but also a little curiosity to see how the ~1cm lowerish bars would ride. It turned out to ride pretty damn good while giving me the option of being able to lower it another 15mm before the stem is slammed. At this point, I'm actually liking the mismatch look of the stem.

No doubt, I need to ride it, and all my other bikes, more.

This is my first post, in which I combine Crust Bike's marketing with Thoreau's 'Walden', behold!

"For human society I was obliged to conjure a new stead for the former occupants of these woods. Within the memory of many of my townsmen the road near which my house stands resounded with the laugh and gossip of an old timey touring bike, and the woods which I shredded the gnar, were notched and dotted here and there with their little gardens and dwellings. 1" threaded because it was then much more shut in by the forest than now. In some places, 26" tyres and drop bars, the pines would scrape both sides of a chaise at once, and women and children who were compelled to go this way romancing the gravel did on foot and they did it with fear, and often ran a good part of the distance. Introducing the Norsk skogkatt pre orders 2020"
