You don't want an east coast hardtail.

I mean it's pretty fucked up to label the Day/Ruiner as a FBM biek, it wouldn't even exist without Endpoint ordering and designing it for FBM to weld together. It's a pretty shitty way to not shine a light on the brand/company that actually is Endpoint and how the bike came to be.

That's like calling a Spooky a FTW. Either name is kick ass, but it's a Spooky.

If someone on here did it, I'd probably like it. Since it was done by someone I don't know, they're a fucking idiot.

Endpoint or Andpoint,

any further updates or way forward for the current batch of frames? I don't think I'm on the Endpoint email lists (never received Nov email mentioned above)

I PMed braden about it and he gave me some details. I'm not sure I'm at liberty to spew them on here, but you should PM him.

We are quality checking samples of both the Hunter Gatherer and the Coffee Grinder this week. If everything checks out we will be going to paint, then decals, then shipping. To be conservative I would say our delivery date is at least month out. But we are doing everything we can, as is FBM, to exceed that timeline without compromising quality.

Braden: which rims did you get LB to make for you? My friend just melted one of my 30mm wide hooked 650b rims on his car exhaust and I'm wondering if I need to go hookless for the replacement. Kinda sucks because I wouldn't be bummed at all if I could get the same exact rim, but having one hookless and one hooked is triggering me.

https://www.lightbicycle.com/carbon-mountain-bike-650b-rim-mtb-27-5-rim.html

edit: hey anyone want a single hooked rim as a backup for their set so I can just buy a pair of the new-new?

Email them.

Iirc the hooked 650b stuff was an off menu item at the time.

Last time I ordered some they told me no dice. Maybe if I were doing a couple of sets like you they would be more amenable. I emailed them earlier so will find out whenever the office opens. I'm ok with their hookless honestly. My girlfriend has been on them since mid-2016.

Hey I might take that rim off of you. Pm me with info if it’s 32 spoke

I’m probably going to be selling a 650b 15mm thru axle front wheel if someone needs one for their endpoint.

Update for Tarckers with a bike on order - We’ve received and QC checked Coffee Grinders and they are at paint. Hunter Gatherers are scheduled to ship to us for QC and paint by end of the week. Happy Tuesday all.

it's gonna be a race to the top to see who can ruin who's day first.

it's also gonna be a race to the bottom to see how badly I can fuck up hydrostoppers by trying to install them myself.

I got the same do-it-yourself kit and have never installed hydro brakes before. What's the worst that could happen? ¯\(°_o)/¯

Should probably buy some extra fluid though

I did make sure to buy the flare wrench though. Years of working on cars has taught me NEVER use a regular wrench to try and do brake hoses.

Which reminds me, since I'm very good at bleeding automobile brakes, hydroshakes should be easy, right? Boy, I can't wait to eat my words on this next week.

Oh dammit, what size flare wrench? I have a few already, guessing they're on the too big side.

I never used a flare wrench when I had to rebuild the Avid X0 lever on my mtn bike, because fuck those things, need a good enough excuse to replace them anyway.

A few things.
Don't crack the hose when you are inserting the barb.
You need a pneumatic hose cutter to cut the hose, dont use your big cable cutters you will crack that shit. Also a razor blade works fine.

If you have those funky in line adjuster things they do not need an olive at the end, just a barb.
If you are running oil through it for the first time make sure to pump the brakes a lot and tap/shake the caliper a bunch, there is hella air in there.
If you have your own bleed kit, it should have a couple of lil tiny wrenches that work fine on the hose shit.

Wait really?

I can't use this thing?

Fri, 02/09/2018 - 16:44
Todd
Todd's picture

No you should not.
I dont know if that means you can't do it successfully, but you probably shouldnt.
The hose is plastic, and will deform and crack before those cut.

I grabbed the Jagwire pro cutter and I think the needle driver as well. Better check the box of parts this weekend to see what I really have, it's been a while.

I’ve used a utility knife on many a Shimano hose.

You really need a straight cut, v hard with the park snipper.

shimano is pretty much like bleeding car brakes. don't use your felcos, just get the cut as perpendicular as you can with a sharp razor. I didn't use any special tools, though a bench vise would have been nice to hold the blocks when hammering in the barb.

As oogs says, if you don't have the tools, sharpest box cutter/razor/knive you have.
I finally broke down and bought a jagwire jawn even though I have ready access at the shop.

Xacto worked fine for me, just work the hose back and forth on a solid surface with the knife to start the cut. I installed the R8020 to RS785s in one evening with no real issues. An extra tub of fluid is probably a good idea eventually... I used all/most of both bottles that came with the shakes during the bleed process (I likely repeated each bleeding step more than was necessary.)

FWIW I’ve installed hundreds or thousands of disc brakes using Felco-styled cutters, with absolutely no issues.
