So, i'm gonna guess that a nice alloy H/G isn't going to be much cheaper than the current steel is real one, since it's getting stuck together in the US. I'm interested, but until I win the lotto I'm not in the market for a bike, sadly.

Cheaper? I thought we were taking about a more expensive version.

Yeah, I hear alloy and I think cheaper, but nice alloy is not like that.

Just rode my CG after being a few weeks off the bike.

Still rides so dreamy.

Two things...

I'm doing a SP order next week. Anyone want in?

I'm doing another Light Bicycle order in 2 weeks. Same question.

Will the LB rims have bead hooks?
If so, I want in.

Have built and ridden one of two Light Bicycle rims from the last order: https://www.lightbicycle.com/Road-bicycle-rims-28mm-wide-46mm-deep-aero-clincher-road-disc-brake-available.html
They build up quick and smooth, and feel waaay better than the dtr460 they replaced.

If you check out the light-bicycles website rim pages, you can choose a butt-ton of options, including hooked or hookless.

All music is just the Eagles with different geometry.

OK finally ready to pull the trigger on some tires and get this build going.

DQ: Schwalbe G-One Speed 27.5 x 2.0 or Continental Speed King 27.5 x 2.2?

Contis are cheaper, allegedly 70g lighter. Any reason not to use them? I'm hoping they run a bit smaller than claimed, or at least not bigger.

Continental are only tubeless-friendly in the stiffer/heavier ProTection casing

also when I never-ever see a rare weenie tire model in use, I assume there's a good reason

No tubeless in that tire, AFAIK. Bicycle Rolling Resistance tests were wild about it, though.

The speed king II feels very fast, probably faster than the snakeskin g-one. Tubeless results are mixed, a friend of mine who runs them as road plus tires got a screw in the middle of the tread and it wouldn't seal. They measure a true 55 mm on 19mm rims. Where were you planning on getting the 27.5x2 g-ones? I can only find them in the 2.35 sizeway from bike discount.de and bike24

Bike-components.de (I have never ordered from these folks) has the 27.5x2.0 Schwalbe G-One Speed (is snakeskin) listed, but not available for 2-7 days. I wonder how accurate that really is?

I'm tempted by the Conti, but I know it will make fenders tricky. I also don't like the idea of running a not-officially-tubeless-compat tire tubeless. I'm heavy and I like to descend fast.

I ordered from them. Stuff ships from Korea and takes about 3 weeks.
They messed up my order and I was able to return and get the correct thing, but it took a month and a half for me to get the correct stuff all told.

Those fuckin geese are multiplying at an exponential rate. I thought there were a lot of geese in DE. My commute has become a goose-dodging endeavour now. The main reason I have fenders is to catch the goosedodo slag.

We are having a heat-wave right now. Was 28 degrees at work, and last night I decided to take the longer way home so I didn't have to go through the CBD which just makes my blood pressure go through the roof. I was getting close to where I dive into the bush, and as I rolled down this hill I met a Kaka ripping up from the other direction. He took evasive action to avoid a collision, but it blew me away. These birds (parrots) were seriously endangered until a local wild life park was built in our city. Now you can find them in certain suburbs around the city. You hear them late at night screeching away. I'm not sure how many other parrots are nocturnal, but its pretty cool when you think how endangered they were. There are other endangered birds making a comeback as well, and we occasionally meet them on the trails.

More wonderful than you can believe it

My brother was riding in NYC and a sparrow hit him so hard in the chest that the bird exploded. He says he had a sharp pain in his chest and a bunch of feathers went flying and the bird hit the ground dead.

I had a BIG hawk/golden eagle thing (BIG) fly next to me and float right by my shoulder for about 5 full seconds, just checking me out. It was wild. I loved it. Oh, and I got chased by a bear once in the woods (I think).

Had a red-tailed hawk swoop over our group MTBing the other day, felt really cool.

I was preyed upon by a bald eagle this summer, and this was AFTER we ran into four wild cougars on the road. He dove down to check me out, see if I was edible. He then determined that I would be too heavy to lift and then flew away.
