HY I met another Tarcker in real life!

emor's Xtracycle is also a very fine bicycle, and got me dreaming about taking my own daughter out for sunny rides around the lakes :)

I was stopped at a red light yesterday astride my H/G when a guy crossing the street asked me if it was a surly ogre.
I told him it was an endpoint hunter/gatherer and he said he'd never heard of it.

To follow the Surly nomenclature, you could mention the rack was made by a Reclusive Orc.

Mig, Cinelli Work + Soma low trail fork and you’re there. I’ve seriously considered it for commuting to the velodrome. Soma fork with dyno and a rack to hold the race wheels and fork. Swap and go.

SL version of Coffee Grinder. Aluminum or Ti? Reasonable price ranges?

SL version of Hunter/Gatherer. Same questions.

Alu CG with a comically huge XXL option. Price it like a Squid, not like a Spooky.

HG: same?

I'm not sure I see the point of a Ti frame in this application, but that might just be me.

edit: price it like a Squid plus whatever it costs to actually paint the frameset.

^that is my fear, too. Luckily these 350s would be swappable to thru axle rear. But, not, must resist. Was thinking endpoint hardtail might be next bike.
And I don't ride the CG enough as it is now.

I assume both a ti or aluminum hg would still have a steel fork to accommodate those brazeons. Steel fork on al frame looks weird to me

Between the two, I think the Coffeegrinder in Al makes more sense. It's the sportier of the two. HG oozes steel or ti.

We all like the idea of an aluminum bike because we're nerds and know that that is cool. Is the average less-nerdy bike nerd going to go for an aluminum bike? Ti is kind of silly, but bike journalists and people on lesser forums fucking love imagining they can feel a meaningful improvement in ride quality between Ti and steel. Same people who go on about the vibration damping qualities of a carbon front triangle on a full suspension bike when comparing it to its alloy counterpart.

I suspect you would go aluminum to make tarck happy, Ti to sell bikes.

alu coffee grinder would give me a hard time not swapping out my road bike. but then my road bike would be too much like my "cross" bike which is ti and musa and this is the problem with having so many musa bikes made by/with people i know. alloy for sure though- could make it proper light.
All that being said- i pretty much only grab my h/g anymore cuz it's so sw8 and i could pretty much sell all of my other bikes and be fine

I've already got some of the bits to prototype it in 7005 this winter, need to finish buying and testing tubing

So, i'm gonna guess that a nice alloy H/G isn't going to be much cheaper than the current steel is real one, since it's getting stuck together in the US. I'm interested, but until I win the lotto I'm not in the market for a bike, sadly.

I'm interested and when I get a raise I'll be in the market for a sweetass BBill x Endpoint CG, happily.
