Schwalbe Marathon Supreme 700x28

Just installed these last night. Initial feelings not good.

Only measures out to 27.2mm so far on TB-14 rims. Unimpressed by volume. Ride pretty uninspiring as well so far. Noticeably more sluggish than the Roly Polys I just took off.

They seem to be picking up more road debris that I can hear going into the fenders. Will see if this lasts after all the release agent wears off in a couple more rides.

Black side wall and reflective strip are cool but I have a feeling I'll be taking these off soon.

i have the 25s and agree on volume, they're smaller than advertised. the ride is definitely uninspiring. however, the fact that i have >2500 miles on them without a flat is quite nice.

Final thought:

Fuck these slow ass tires. Putting my worn out Roly Polys on until black wall Nomads get here on Monday.

At least you didn't get the fucking Marathon Plus that have the 5mm blue puncture strip under the thick tread

All the Schwalbe City and MTB tires are significantly undersized: "58"=53mm, "35"=31.5mm, etc.

The ones they describe as having their maximum speed rating are legitimately fast. Everything under that is going to be a real dog, and the ones that amp up the puncture protection are fucking treacle.

It's a struggle, but you cut out his tongue, and his last words are "atmo atmo Atmo ATMO ATMOOOOOGORIHGGHRSHGGRLMGGMMGMgrrglegurglegrr....."

The Schwable site is so goddamned difficult to navigate now.

They do have Marathon Racers in '30c', but they are wire bead only. Ultremo ZX is probably the fastest option.

I put some Marathon Winter studded tires on my commuter, and they are THE slowest tires I've ever ridden (which shouldn't be too much of a surprise). They weigh ~1000g each. Only time they really feel secure is on black/sheet ice. Snow--especially if it's rutted--is kinda scary.

Yeah, did they go out of their way to hide the info? Love this error message:

marathon supremes look to be the schwalbe version of the vittoria randonneur hypers (which are already discontinued for some reason). curious how they compare; i love my rando hypers

One of the guys here has the rando hypers and loves them, the set we have here feels much thinner at the tread so I suspect they do feel better. I think Schwalbe just put too damn much rubber on the supremes. The sidewalls feel nice and supple. Too bad really.... could have been a really good tire.

I do have a set of 38mm ones here if you can find replacements or are trying to hoard some.

It looks like the Randonneur Hyper is now the Voyager Hyper. Sorta wish they made one in 700x28. I really like the 32 I've been using on my Crosscheck.

on my commuter, where my primary goal is to get to work and back without fucking with a tire when it's 15 degrees outside, i'll stick with the shitty marathons. other than that i agree with all complaints.

i dont hate the 35c version of the marathon supreme as long as you keep the pressure on the low end

will just buy nomads when these are done tho..

edit- i successfully ran the 35c version tubeless on a stans alpha 340.

it will take a long time for them to be done

usually the sidewalls will wear out first especially given the low pressures you need to keep em from being jackhammers

for a few friends, the only flats they got on theirs were from broken threads in the casing along the area of the sidewall that could flex
