Maybe someone cut the tips off of the drops?

For a bit I was trying to make sense of them as being flipped/rotated pursuit bars but it's not really possible.

Yes, I've never seen more and more ridiculous handlebar set-ups than in Chicago. Why?

I assembled that bike. She brought me all the parts and shit an I just put it together.
She INSISTED that that was where she wanted the bars/levers and I didn't have the energy to argue.
Guess what. They've since been corrected.

It really surprises me, but they've taken it so far into the wrong that it lines up right again.

The lever angle itself is good, they just abused the bars to get super long ramps / reach and gave up the flats of the drops to do it (but still have perfectly functional hooks). From the fit it's clear that they aren't doing it out of naive lovelybicyclism, it's the largest size with a 60.5cm TT, with a lot of setback on a 72 STA, the stem is at least 120mm, and it doesn't have cross-tops.

Only things I dislike on that bike are the rims and tires.

slightly ergo track drops with some of the end cut off? just rotated up to make the drop into a huge ramp?

Not track drops, there's no flare or slope to them:

Pretty sure they're not cut, just rotated. Probably some ergofied Deda Shallow clone.

Uhhh was this taken in SF? Because I'm pretty sure that bike was in the coop a couple weeks ago. Some tiny Asian guy was building it up. I helped him straighten the dangler hanger.

Edit: on second look, I think that has different wheels. How common is that colorway? He claimed he used to race and it looks like LaGrange is a California club. Hrm...

It blows my mind that you would get something like that in at a coop.

you're only allowed to work on junkpile beaters or polo bikes at the bike co-op. none of that bourgeois bullshit.

He had it with wheels/no tires and random pieces installed and random pieces in a bike. Like I said, all I helped him do was straighten the dangler hanger and install the dangler and run new housing for the rear brake. The housing that was on there was super long and causing the brake cable to bind.

Just looked to be a fairly rare colorway and I didn't expect a picture of it (or the same frame) to pop up on Tarck a couple weeks later.

My philosophy is if you have a super nice bike and/or can afford to go to a LBS, IMO you should be volunteering or donating parts.

Should have said it was just a cross check with different geometry. - Todd

Well my particular "coop" is a commercial venture. Pay a one-time fee to join and get use of the shop 4 lyfe. I usually try to help other folks if I have experience with their particular issue. I have built up a few nice-ish bikes there and while admittedly I don't spend a ton of money there I usually end up spending a few bucks every trip on cables, chains, spokes, etc...
