I don't think Riv is even trying to justify its actions anymore.
"Here is a spencer we have made with inexplicably high drop bars, and plump road tires with rim brakes."
Uh...okay.

But like, the spencer should function, right?

That's sora R3000 9speed isn't it?

Does it have the same cable pull fuckery that tiagra 4700 (10sp on an 11sp geo RD) does, or is it still using the old pull and actually compatible with 9sp MTB mechs?

Next time can you yell at them about their websites? Effing hell every time I am looking for tires it's a huge PITA. Listen fuckers, I WILL BE THE JUDGE of how I'm going to use my tires. Let me pick an ISO diameter, then a width range (and possibly only then a knobbiness factor) and let me go at it.

I hate having to guess "are their nice 650b fatty mixed use tired under touring, city, cyclocross, or xc race" ?

Agreed. Same thing with 700C and 29er. And changing their terminology every other season doesn't help things, either (Conti and Schwalbe seem to be the worst offenders in that area).

hang on, 10 speed Shimano 105 road shifters work no trouble with a 9 speed XT RD on a 10 speed cassette if I'm not mistaken.

Those aren't 10 speed 105, they're 9-speed Sora. I was under the impression Sora R3000 switched to Shimano's actuation angle (found in Dura Ace all the way through Tiagra), but it turns out I was reading the chart incorrectly and R3000 remains compatible with the old Shimano pull ratio. So happy Grant, indeed.

I'm starting a new retrogrouch tendency that posits 2011 was the golden age of drop-bar hybrid drivetrains and we should have never progressed beyond this hack and Exact Actuation 1:1 matches

It's on Insta, which still seems to be controlled by SeanAndAnna.

It says they made 9 ti prototypes. If that fork is really ti I wonder where it came from? You'd think someone who's run an internet spencer company knows about the fate of all of the XACD ti forks that were popular in the 29er glory days.

If they weren't going to go for the derper, they could have at least included a quick release seat clamp.

There is stock available on the Rawland site that’s “fully warrantied”.

holy crap the literal description in their wholesale site starts with: "Think of it as the common man’s version of Sugino’s Compact Plus system."

their outer chainrings are a little to a lot cheaper than the Sugino equivalents

but they're wholesaling the OX601d arms for the same price in black, and less in silver

baffling as always

So it needs a special outer chainring like the other subcompacts? Not worth it if true. It's also significantly heavier than a Shimano 105 crankset with 50-34 rings. Any word on the VO 110/74 that they have in the works?

Speaking of subcompact outer rings. I ordered a new generic 110 BCD, 46t Sugino chainring for my OX601d and its not nearly as pretty as the OEM chainrings they ship with the crank. Also missing all the pins and wacky ramps :,(
Never thought I was a picky chainring person but here we are.

I was mostly sad that it didn't have that big pin the prevents the chain from dropping between crank arm and outer ring.
Seems to shift just fine even without ramps/pins.
