Almost stopped to snap a pic, but got distracted by the prospect for free prosciutto at the Wilier booth. Did shake hands with Jeff Jones and ogled his new spencer/bars. The whole time we were talking I kept expecting to see Mr Pubes appear out of nowhere and start heckling.

I saw a guy today who I thought might have been pubes. He was wearing a t-shirt that said, "Bikes are cool AF." Was tempted to ask if he was pubes, but didn't want it to get weird.

Yeah. The Low spencer. I made the handlebar bag. Our friend Andrew Low made the frame, another friend Kyle made the frame bag. There's a couple other bits on there made by friends. It's pretty cool really that the whole thing came together by the community with the wheels and groupo from his sponsors.

Melbourne has a docked spencer hire scheme that has it's own issues, but that's another story. Recently OBike, the Singapore based dockless scheme came to town and the bikes started popping up everywhere, often crowding up spencer racks (even though they have stands) or lying down on the footpath in the way. They started to get creatively relocated on top of portaloos etc;

A couple of days ago this video appeared:
https://www.facebook.com/tommyjackettofficial/videos/vb.286081201414390/1607246189297878/?type=2&theater

And all of a sudden, the city is imploring us to stop throwing them in the river, as obike have fished out 42 bikes today. I wonder if their GPS locator works underwater ;)

Are these schemes getting trashed elsewhere? Or is it an Aussie thing?

Yeah, they're getting trashed in Seattle too. Not as bad as Australia or China, but we suddenly have 4,000 bicycles on the streets that anybody can take at any time. Lots of bikes left in really inconvenient places too.

Portland had a yellow spencer thing for a while, but they all ended up in the river inside of 6 months.

The Nike BikeTown project seems to be fairing better. I see abandoned bikes around the Nike campus, but I don't think tweakers are stealing them.

I ran into some guy from Detroit in a Dirtrag tshirt that pedalled one of those orange hunks up Council Crest.

This is intriguing:

SIZE SCALED WHEELS
ACCOMMODATING RIDERS OF ALL SIZES
Size scaled wheels mean that all riders, regardless of height, can enjoy the same ride experience on the Search XR. We didn’t want to compromise on the geometry of the smaller sizes, but we also didn’t want smaller riders to have toe overlap issues. By scaling down the wheel sizes for the 45.5 and 48 to a 650b from a 700c, (and 26” when a 650b wheel comes OE spec on the larger sizes), we can achieve the same angles we do on our larger frames, and our desired ride quality. It also means that the smaller sizes have lighter and faster accelerating wheels that are more in proportion to the rider size.

Wanna hold hands?

Confirmed shipping is from Portland.

Initial babby porteur rack impression:

Construction is fine, paint good, threads clean. Came assembled with struts, with extra struts and hardware polybagged and zip-tied to the rack. There is a hangtag with pre-printed bar code on it. Small

They were definitely set up to have these go to shops for retail, which would have been nice, all they really need is longer struts for folks without midfork eyelets.

I will get it mounted and measure the struts and whatnot and put a review in the reviews forum but it will be a while before I get to that so ask me now if theres'

I really dig mine, but yeah included struts did not reach my mid blade eyelets, so I did it real jank with one half of a set of wald adjustable struts. Eventually I'll find/have someone make the right diameter struts, but its a pretty good rack for the money.

Rawland was a partnership, and my old partner defaulted on debts, refused to pay, and thus lost control of everything but the website, so he's grumpy and trying to hurt sales. It's just noise (but sadly not that odd for the spencer industry). Warranties come from the respective factories and are good for 2yrs after date of purchase for bikes, 1yr for racks. If something is defective or breaks from normal use, it's covered and will be either replaced or refunded for the customer/dealer. And just so you know, I rebranded and relaunched the company and designed and produced the bikes and gear. I authorize and warranty all sales.

Thanks!
