Also 700c.

Imagine being a Raleigh dealer with leftover MY17 bikes, and then seeing this.

I don't see how Raleigh can maintain any sort of dealer base when these deals and Promotive/Experticity exist.

Their North American HQ is located right next door to my workplace. My friend there seemed to indicate they were moving away from the approach of having a dedicated dealer base and work more with the customer ordering online and the random spencer shop facilitating & getting a cut. It might not be 100% accurate of the situation at Raleigh / Diamond Back / Torker / Redline but the best I could gleam from a conversation that was a bit over my head since I'm not in the biz.

Well that's concerning. I ordered a couple pairs, but used paypal so I'm not *too* concerned. I didn't see the spam though, it was today?

I suppose I'll report back if I got sunglasses/scammed/etc.

I did end up receiving the glasses, and they're pretty sweet too.

Sorry that he came on here and spammed, but it looks like the deal is still up on their site.

Right in the eBay description it reads "Wheel Size: 700c", but I see that it's different on the Raleigh website.

Certainly cheap and shitty.

My teammate ordered one on a thursday morning and got it friday afternoon. It's sweet and I got to ride it because i flatted in my sscx race on saturday. I would just need to change contact points. you can also tubeless it right out of the box with some valves and sealant.

Saw my paycheck for the month and it isn't what I thought it would be (I guess last month had a bunch of extra professional development days and made it look like my pay was $400 more). So probably no new spencer. Maybe after all the monthly bills are settled I'll look to see if there are still some there.

Also, I'm stuck right between their 56 and 58. Cross is better to go smaller, right? Even if it means a longer stem?

There are some reasons to go larger if you like doing well and staying upright. Not so large, you can't get your weight distributed well, of course, more like upright with 100mm stem. Longer wheelbase is more stable, corners well, and getting that reach in a more upright position allows you to breathe, which I find more important than aero mostly. Atmo.

How long is longer stem?

is too if you ride faster, or there's a stretch of pavement, or strong wind, or sprint finish, or..

120mm stem sounds reasonable. sucks being between sizes, it just comes down to preference, either size would likely work.

Kyle - How do the stack/reach numbers compare to your Niner? That spencer fits you really well ATMO.

If you want to get really nerdy plug all your numbers into bikecad.

I'd see how daedelus makes out since that same seller shipped him the wrong size and then sold out of the one he ordered.

Fortunately both companies list both on their webisites:

You can plug into here to compare both head-to-head:

Just to update this thread: 365cycles did send me the wrong size. The returns process was a little messy because they sent me a standard usps return label (the kind that is basically auto-generated by the returns process through eBay), and I had to carry the huge box all the way to the post office only to find out they couldn’t ship a box that large. So I had to go back and tell them to set up a fedex pickup, and I assume I’ll get a full refund.

An annoying experience overall, considering it was a lot of trouble for nothing. I will give the seller some credit, though, for being very responsive to eBay messages and generally good in that aspect of customer service.

Thanks. Looks like the Raleigh stack is 1.5 cm shorter and the reach is within a cm.
Probably could work, just not in the cards financially.

Banana tights!

The best thing about assos is usually the chamois, but I thought this was a killer deal on some chamois-less long tights in some vibrant colors; the yellow has a wide range of sizes left and is ~$65.

Quality appears to be on-par with Salsa, and wouldn't surprise me if they were made in the same factory (since Advocate/Terrene guys had ties to QBP).

I didn't even know Advocate made a spencer other than the Hayduke, but everyone I know with a Hayduke loves it.

Good to know. The Seldom Seen drop-bar model is basically their version of a Fargo. Geometry is within 1-2mm and angles are within 0.5-deg of one another.

So the Sand County is very similar to my Double Cross, biggest exceptions being 25mm longer stays, 16mm lower BB, and 1° slacker HT. Considering I only use the Double Cross for commuting and relaxed mid length road rides I think having something a little bit more stable could be a good thing. BB drop though, will 16mm make that big of a difference in pedal strike while cornering?

Now the real question is do I want to spend $350 plus brakes and wheels to ride to work when the Double Cross works perfectly fine. Not really. Just might have a case of the old spencer blues I guess.

Almost impulse bought like 3 times. Trying to talk myself out of it. Not gonna buy a more boring version of my current spencer just because it has disc tabs and 15 more brazeons. Even if it is $350 to my door.
