I used to sell skateboards (mostly longboards, but that's another story). Dealing with collectors or any customer over the age of, say, 27 was a nightmare.

If you want to see crazy money being spent, search "vintage bmx" on eBay and sort by price high-to-low.

I bought wheels, bearings, and misc hardware from you in my 20s.

Got any stickers left?

I might have some left. All the legal/financial BS killed whatever enthusiasm I had left, and I ended up destroying or giving away what remained.

If you find any, LMK. A good friend bought a ton of stuff from you back when and I'm sure he'd appreciate a BNIB NOS MHS sticker.

I'll see what I can find.

Do you remember the MHS bearings? There are/were multiple suppliers on Aliexpress/Alibaba offering MHS bearings despite the fact that none of them are/were the original supplier.

Collectors suck until you find them after 70 years, then their collection is amazing.

I'm a terrible collector. I have ideas of picking a genre of something and collecting, but I can never settle on one thing because it eventually becomes too expensive to be maintainable.

So instead of collections I have piles of clutter.

Why would anyone want to start a collection from scratch, just for the sake of it?

Gotta start somewhere?

Starting a collection is better than having someone start a collection for you. I had a girlfriend in high school who decided I liked Piglet, and thus the Piglet collection was borne unto me.

Also, I don't willfully start collections. I just notice that I have a pile of something, and that's when I contemplate becoming a collector of that thing.

I think that if I discovered I had a pile of something arbitrary, N-1 of which was redundant, I would either give it away or throw it out.

I'm sure I have a huge blindspot of things I own, but consider useful. Collections have just always seemed like a compulsive disorder to me. I guess it's harmless enough in most cases, so what do I care, I guess?

Also, if I didn't move so often or had more space, I would probably have never given it a second thought.

New junction A can only update firmware thru Bluetooth using phone/tablet, can't use PC e-tubes. My iPhone auto-locked a minute into the push and lost the connection.

Continental officially called it "sealing milk" for a long time.

Naturally, this bike is partially tarck's fault.

I hang out here all the time and I wouldn't know wtf you were talking about if you came in asking for milk without any context.

When I was wrenching, if a customer came in and asked for "milk", I for sure would have posted that shit in this thread on my lunch break. No malice intended, of course, but you might as well have gone in and asked for shakes.

I use pusher and dangler and shakes to the exclusion of all else because those are objectively better words for the things to which they refer. I also called a shelf tag hanger as a “hangle dangle” to a bunch of coworkers the other day. That one is just fun to say.

Angle of dangle, pusher, chairpolr, nano martians, wb's (wrench bender) for when talking about overly tightened bokts, wb^2 for qualifying bolt tightness on Intense bikes, DABMPCR (do abosulutelt bare minimum possible customer request) for when cuatomer wants a tune up and everything is completely destroyed and needeing replacement are all commonly used terms in my shop

This has happened to me several times.

it's not the junction A, it's the WU111 bluetooth unit that you cant update with the PC-1...

Etube auto-updates the firmware of that unit when you connect for the first time via bluetooth without prompting you to approve. For your first connect, do NOT change the password from the stock 000000. It takes FOREVER to update, so if you happen to need to reconnect or whatever your device will not be able to, as it has auto-recognized the bike with the password 000000. You always have to go into the bluetooth settings and forget the device and search again after a password change.

Or it will still brick. It usually does anyways (due to timeout?)

I also always do the first connect with the WU111 right next to the tablet/phone, to make sure you get the best connection. Then stuff it wherever you want (usually in the seat tube for me) and it doesnt have much of an issue after that.

If this happens you have to recover each bit piece by piece. I bet if you plugged the junction A into e-tube alone (and use the individual diagnostic mode) you will be able to recover the part. Try it several times if it does not work the first round. For whatever reason the junction A seems to be what shits when updating the WU111.

Good to know in case I encounter this... I stand by my "lol wtf" though. Shimano makes a piece of their E-tubes system that can't actually talk to their existing E-tubes diagnostic tool? Brilliant. I get that things are moving towards wireless for diagnostics and updates pretty much everywhere but to just make it straight up impossible to use it with the existing hardware as a backup is just idiotic.

PC-1 will see the WU111, but it does not have the ability to update it's firmware. I'd guess that has more to do with the bluetooth standard than shimano being dumb.
