that i am also sure is true, but still. it's making a hardship for people i care about. thumb got reattached, we'll see how it heals.

You'll live to not regret it, even when you're leaving people you care about. When you work with good people business becomes personal, but if the relationships are strong, and your opportunities are better, given time you will appreciate separating the two.

I caught my finger between the chain and the cog of a fixed gear a few years ago, but luckily I was able to stop and reverse before too much damage was done. Punched through my fingernail, but after a few weeks everything came back nicely. I feel lucky no surgery/fracturing was involved.

I only did close to what ltf mentioned once.

i went to a shop yesterday for the first time in over a year. great experience. they pressed in a headset while i waited and charged me $16.20. that was a HY for me but probably a WTH for them because i was expecting it to cost like $40 at least.

Never got my finger caught in a chain, but I did have the brake rotor on a DH bike take just the corner tip off of my index finger. Not fun getting things caught in other things with sharp bits and lots of inertia.

Having worked in a frame shop for years (picture frames) and seeing people completely cut off tips of fingers and stab themselves with glass shards I'm particularly careful about my hand placement. Especially after in said frame shop I once crushed the tip of my middle finger and lost feeling in the entire finger for about 2 years. Basically anytime I'm working on something I run through a quick little check list of where my hand my slip, where the tip of something might end up if the tool slips, etc.

My offer letter mentioned bonuses

Also I'm getting a 9.5 bong tarmac on Friday to demo for a year for free

Does anyone else hate the Wheel Manufacturing and Praxis thread-in bottom brackets? From the beginning, I never understood why it was assumed to fix the creaking problem with BB30, because if the frame tolerances are off for a cartridge bearing, they will surely be off for one of these things, too. Turns out I was right: it's a total non-solution, and I get more bikes with those things creaking than I ever saw with regular BB30. At this point in the summer, there are days where I spend literally 75% of my time trying to get these things to stop making noise.

I mean obviously is expands to fill the void, but ~25% of the bikes come back with persistent creaking noises, so clearly it's not working as intended.

Never once had an issue with Praxis. If installed dry in carbon, it may creak but carbon prep takes care of that.

I get a call friday afternoon about 4:30pm. a client of ours up in whistler works in hospitality, and asked us for some help with a group of VIPs staying at his hotel, but is very vague about it all.

So me and my mechanic pack up a bunch of spares and our tools and roll to whistler, getting in at about 11. We know we are working on some high roller's bikes, but not what exactly we were getting into or what we were expected to do. Turns out it was the Crown Prince of Dubai, he and 20 of his buddies (and their entourages (holy...)) are on a world cycling tour, and in this stop they were riding the Sea to Sky Hwy from Whistler to Vancouver. They needed someone to assemble all their bikes and run sag for the ride. So, we're directed into the private residences parking garage, where there is a massive pile of bikes, half assembled. The handler points at 'em and says "these are the ones they will ride tomorrow morning." lol.

we stay up until like 3am tuning, up at 6 to finish for an 8 am depart. All the bikes were mega ballin, but with like gel saddle covers and I phone mounts and tri saddles. generally fredded out

well, they don't leave until 1030 or so, mostly because none of their garmins were working. We roll with a few other cars (security in a G-Wagon and a sprinter van with some spare bikes and stuff) and run sag down the Sea to Sky, which is super busy with auto traffic this time of year. It was also ironman canada in whistler, so the traffic going northbound was crazy

We had a few scares, the handlers were giving the riders horrible directions (sending them up some of the hardest climbs on the north shore!) but somehow all these dudes (and a princess!) make it to Vancouver. We walk into the destination hotel and the handler is just like "ok pack them please, we leave tomorrow 9 am" and leads us to a conference room with bike bags, gear, and bikes just thrown everywhere

all of the colnagos had full size flight cases with laser cut foam, like pull off the side of the case, squish bike into foam, and then latch case up. Perks of owning your own airline, I guess.

so we packed up all the bikes, and all their scuba gear, and their hiking crap, and after like 24 hours straight of this craziness, they handed us a fat wad of US 100$ bills.

Stop, stop, stop. I just finally found a frame and had to compromise with a Wheels Mfg bottom bracket converter because my perfect threaded frame didn't exist... :(

Awesome story! They've have been doing that, all over the place, for the past few years.

When I worked at FLET, they did basically the same thing for the Syracuse Half IM. Shipped everything into one of my dealers a couple of days ahead of time, basically paid him to shut the whole place down (which is saying A LOT, he's usually slammed for that race) and just work on their equipment. Owner called me up the day after they left and was like, "I have to, like, restock my entire shop. They bought everything!"

The bike world needs more crown royal princes and their entourages.

so, the bikes were nice, but my view is pretty skewed because this is the type of stuff I am working around every day. I didn't take many photos, we just didn't have time, and they were pretty low-key

these c60's were dope, with SR EPS and bora tubs

my mechanic, abu dabbing

they brought us room service at 2am, poor kid had to push the food cart down the cobblestone driveway. On the right were the 5 M1 SpitZing E-Bikes, that some of the old guys, security, and the princess rode. The handler was like "very, very expensive"

like 3 am, living the life of luxury

this thing was <13 lbs

The prince was riding an R5 that had "custom paint"...honestly I could have done a better job with rattle cans in my garage. Forgot to snap a pic. Kinda weird.

Always liked the LOOK of these. note the carefully curated gel pad and IPhone accessary layout

the handler and the hired guns rode in this thing

and thats all I got.

from the shop, this went out yesterday. F10 w/EPS

and a recent holy shit, to round it all out
