Oh shi. That was you? I thank you! (I apologize for the floor staff. Some of the guys are essentially functioning as place holders (not Alex! He's cool)).

Drank two of them and that's the only way I was able to get through my day.

Yeah, it's cool that my fridge has been stocked for the last 3 months with free beer from customers, but it doesn't help when I'm trying to cut down on beer.

Coffee (or double espresso....) are great .

Some fun bits from my week.

Customer brought in this Campy Zonda rear wheel. He literally ripped it apart. I built him up a 240/Belgium Plus. He feedback was rad after shooting him an email asking how it worked out.

"Wheel was great! There was an noticeable difference while racing some friends to the top of some climbs. Every time I'd put on the gas, the wheel would just respond so quickly. It was also insanely smooth going down long descents. So thank you!"

HD3 pivot went boom. This guy has had the worst of luck, warranty wise. Brakes, Cane Creek DBiL twice, rear triangle.

It's always important to ask first, don't wanna get beer for someone who doesn't drink or meat and cheese pizza for a vegan.

i don't work in a shop, but i try to do people favors when i can. i always appreciate it when people ask if i drink beer. i am the worst to buy things for because i drink neither beer nor coffee. i tell people they can buy some balleur chocolate or something.

The thing is there are really good chocolate chip cookies available almost everywhere but when you get a snickerdoodle that's just right (perfectly sour and sweet And the perfect crispy or gooey) it's like heaven has opened up its recipe book for the mortals

Yeah, glad you got some much-needed caffeine! I was trying to find you to say hello and awkwardly introduce myself about how I know you through the internet (what seemed like the best idea was to ask if there had been any recent "holy shit/bike shop lulz" and hope you'd catch it) but no one could find you for a bit so I ducked out when I realized I was awkwardly lingering.

I used to do this

Community nonprofit LBS was in an old flower store on a diagonal corner next to a classic ghetto chinese takeout place, with the 2" plexiglass and lazy susan. I'd get a double order of crinkle-cut fries, mumbo sauce, and broccoli in garlic black bean sauce

warning: this post contains no lulz

LBS life has been difficult lately. a few weeks ago we lost a coworker and friend who got hit by a car while riding, which as been entirely horrible and sad. he was an incredible, loving human and we all miss him real bad. then a few days ago i watched a coworker run his thumb through the rear end of a fixed gear drivetrain. guess his rag got caught while hastily cleaning a chain and it sucked him in. it was a traumatic experience - the end of his thumb below the first knuckle was mostly unattached and the bone got fractured. we've also had two break ins in the last month, one where a motherfucker came in through the roof and another where some wheelie kids kicked in a door. neither case ended in stolen merchandise, but it's still been a pain in the ass and demoralizing to experience. throw it all on top of normal busy season stress with the added side benefit of being understaffed, all while dealing with financial woes in the second consecutive year of industrywide decline, and it's been not great.

in a month i'm moving to philly and leaving the shop. while i'm personally very stoked about this, the inevitable guilt i've had about leaving has felt way worse as shit has continuously hit the fan since making my decision to move. of course, how things have been makes me feel all the more eager to be elsewhere soon, which also in turn makes me feel more guilty.

So sorry to hear about your friend, too. Did the other guy keep his thumb?!

that is a great day-cheerer-upper.

kind of like when we found the bike with 2" of tire missing from being eaten by rats. that was a great day.
esp cuz later we felt bad cuz the rat was kinda cute and no one wanted to kill him.

We did. Stephan kincaid took us around. Roamed toward the fruit farm, and then to the crazy boulder playground that just seems unsafe because I am not that crazy/good of a rider, and finally toward the trails like a-line and other ones that end up near the bowl. Also rode up to pagoda for obligatory photo. Definitely some fun trails over there.

They've always been all the way back the whole time I've had the bike, 6,235.2 mi as of this morning's commute.
I think it's worth noting that all the broken dropouts I've seen have been on frames with split seatstays while my frame has a split driveside dropout, but I'd think that would make it MORE fragile, not less.
