fender related: i saw a dude riding a couple days ago with a 270deg front fender
made out of wood
with a flap on both sides

i tried to get a photo but i was driving my truck and it would have been dangerous

has anybody gotten hands on the aluminum cascadias?

think i'm gonna get some cause the 50mm width will be better for my setup than the 45mm plastic versions i have currently

I have them, and they're fine. They're not Gooey's beautifully massaged Berthouds, but they get the job done just fine, and they're cheap. I would like the rear more if it were just a tad longer, covering the bike tire better, but I'll eventually drill them for Buddy Flaps and it won't matter much.

I just realized that I have no picture of them, so I'll snap a photo and share it, soon.

Yo Dawg, I heard you like mudflaps so I put a mudflap on this mudflap so you stay dry while riding behind this mudflap

word. i bought a set of the Buddy Flaps TM but was not fully pleased with the width of them, and haven't installed them on anything. thinking i might just get my ass around to doing some other manner of DIY flap, i've just been too lazy to dig up the preferred material folks have been using. probably a few pages back in this thread actually

Those are probably fine.
I have the VO Zepplins on my P/R and they are fantastic. Probably the best thing VO has ever made.

Guys I don't know what size tires and wheels you are looking for but the 60mm Berthoud fenders fit over Switchback Hills perfectly on my bike. Just FYI.

I have the Zeppelins that Rusty linked above, gently massaged to go over Switchback Hills. Looks real nice and clean, but clearance is the trade off, definitely leaves something to be desired. Never been a problem but it is close..

If I have a fender catastrophe I'll probably grab those Berthouds, because apparently nobody can make a good black fender in a nice big sizeway. That said, I would recommend VO fenders for literally any tire size under 48's because they are solid, fairly easy to set up, and have the best front-rear coverage of any of the black options.

Reading that the VOs fit 48mm tires makes me kinda bummed that I went with the ALX, because the black Velo Orange fenders are pretty much one of the three or four things that they do right.

you could put a thick plastic sticker between the metal and carabon. otherwise longboards have been ok for me.

Has anyone had luck attaching SKS stays to a mid-fork eyelet? Possibly a dumb idea, but if I could avoid bending the stays around the disc caliper that'd be nice.

Xtracycle makes one, but it's a front 26" rear 20 tire. They are pretty short though, and may work just fine if you don't mind a little shade tree engineering. Fits up to a 2.4

Wald makes their balloon fenders in 20", use the rear on the front

I've tried every 20" plastic fender, they're all significantly smaller and/or have shittastic hardware

you are being silly

if your stainless fender is rotating that much it's gonna shatter pretty quickly

aluminum fenders are fully annealed and only get any temper from work hardening while being shaped, they're too soft to win a frottage battle

shit looks pretty fucking great, someone finally made stainless fenders with a full-length front

berthoud style blade attachment with threaded steel stays is fantastic

also no fork crown daruma so the whole install looks to involve no cutting, drilling, or cold-setting; and can be done with the wheels on after the rear is bolted to the chainstay bridge
