Rear ended a while back. Only damage to frame was a bent track end.

I have an ATAC with the same crack. I still race them on my SS cross bike. So far no issues.

This is why aluminium is not a good choice for a polo bike frame/fork.

Got hit by a car today.

Wondering if I can just have a shop buy the same rim and relace the wheel? Have had the wheels for about two years. All the spokes look fine except for two right near the break which are ever so slightly bent about two inches down from the nipple. (The curve goes about 1mm out from being straight.)

i have reused spokes with no problems
it kinda of a pita
so shop prob just use new

shops usually use new ones, just so they know it's safe

Basically its to protect them from you

It shouldn't be a problem to reuse them, but I'd replace the bent ones just to be on the safe side.
I've been riding a wheel with reused spokes for a while now and it has held up fine.

yallz should read up on jobst reusing spokes.

also, no shop would rebuild your wheel with your old spokes- mostly because they'd have to charge you more for the labor to remove all of the old ones from the wheel.

Ah, word. I probably should have thought of the whole liability/safety thing. Oh well, probably not worth it then. I'll just have another wheel built.

its pretty easy to swap a rim. i just tape a new rim to the old one, and go one by one from the valve hole

Fri, 11/12/2010 - 21:20

I used that exact method. Make sure to evenly de-tension the spokes from the old rim.

guessing they didn't stop to be nice and give insurance info? or else you'd be asking about getting a sett of H+ boxxx and some da hubs right?

It was during the radness that the fork bent

When I broke my kneecap it was eight weeks before I could bend it enough to complete a pedal stroke and about ten weeks before I could ride anywhere. My fracture was also not as severe as yours (no surgery needed, just a leg immobilizer).

Good luck, and enjoy doing involuntary one-leg drills.

not that i'm aware of. he has made an extra cycle out of a canondale mtb frame w/ bamboo tubes and carbon wrapping.

I rode my last 20 miles last night constantly fiddling with the damn barrel adjusters trying to get the indexing to behave…

Turns out that it ain't my derailleur-adjusting skills that are lacking:

The Record chain came with the lightly-used group. I used a master link to reassemble it, but the original owner used the special pin — guess which pin failed?

It's a struggle, but you cut out his tongue, and his last words are "atmo atmo Atmo ATMO ATMOOOOOGORIHGGHRSHGGRLMGGMMGMgrrglegurglegrr....."

I asploded a Campy chain once.
Replaced it with a sram chain and never looked back.

It's just so much better to never break a chain except to shorten it, especially with narrow ones. For field failures just fully take out the fucked outer plates and replace with a second master link.
