Santa Cruz Chameleon, M. The previous version of the frame that everyone likes better, with a shorter TT, slacker headtube and shorter chainstays and without a stupid EBB. $150. Fuck yeah.

I've ridden an early 90's (80's?) AC track hub that looks just like this hub, they both use this really stupid proprietary axle spacer setup that has lots of play and shreds dropouts. Micro 58 doesn't look anything like mine so I'd assume the design has improved alot since then.

saw this on ebay and bought it. thought it was weird it had what looks like a metal plate on the bottom, but figured a 23 dollar brooks knockoff would be nice to have. worse comes to worst i'd just sell it to someone on craigslist for 40 or 50 bucks.

got it in the mail today and it turns out it's not leather. it's a bunch of plastic. like a resin-vinyl semi pliable plastic, but still nothing like leather.whatever, can't win them all.

Yeah, I'm not really sure. I know that a NOS one is pretty damn rare and that some retro nerds would be into it. It's not the SL and it's not the Roubaix. This one was made in 98. The original was made in 93 and 94.

grabbed one of these for $75 from a garage sale a block away from my apartment. it's too big, but i'm going to flip it for a sale/trade on craigslist. it's in PERFECT shape, but needs a quick release for the front wheel and a caliper for the front disk.

Picked up a mint condition Surly 1x1 frame & fork, with thomson seatpost & stem, CK headset, White Industries freewheel, Juicy 5 brakes, decent handlebars/grips, Locking skewers on front/rear wheel, seat post and headset, and WTB dual-duty wheelset all for $400. Need some fenders and this will be a nice commuter/bar bike.

Rockhopper frameset for $12
Salsa stem for $5
XT rear derailer for $2
XT brake/shift levers for $10
Specialized flat bar for $3
Sram 7.0 casette for $2

Got everything I need to finish the bike except for headset and chain. Though I'd like to find an XT front derailer as well. Gonna finish it out with LX cranks unless I find something cooler tomorrow. Already had the XT wheels, SD7 brakes, saddle, post, tires, bb. The frame may be a tad tall, but I have room for my balls if I need to bail. Never thought I'd run a 130 stem, but just rolling around the parking lot it feels like a decent fit. I hope it still feels good after a couple hours in the woods.

Sorry for the crappy cell pics.

Today's score wasn't as good. Couldn't find a headset in my parts bin or at the swap meet, so I bought a gross Tange hs for $10. At least it's new. Found a nice bottom pull 26.8 XT derailer, but dude wanted $50 for it. I could have walked to the shop around the corner and gotten the same thing unused. So I grabbed an LX for $5 and a chain for $1. Bike should be finished tonite.

$65 VO doubles. Real good deal.

i don't quite understand the copy they write on that page, sorta makes me think some shens are up:

from vo:

You may remember that we made a prototype that was chrome plated aluminum alloy. While it looked great and performed perfectly, most folks preferred a polished alloy finish, as on the triple and polyvalent cranks.

The factory still has many more chrome plated VO crank arms. Those will be assembled with polished alloy rings and priced normally.

....

they're blowing out the chrome plated cranks because people preferred the polished version, but they plan to sell the (less preferred) chrome cranks at full price later?

huh?
