Just caught the end of today's stage of T-A and it appeared that Farrar had some words for EBH after the sprint finish.

Looks like EBH squeezed Petacchi and Farrar. You can get a good view of it starting around 8:50. Doesn't look like anything out of the ordinary to me, though. You can see Farrar stop pedaling for a second. One would think that he'd have come around if he had the legs for it, though.

^ The best commentary from today was "Oh, and Mark Cavendish is down. Wait, where's his front wheel?" or something to that effect.

And from what I saw it didn't seem like EBH did any squeezing of Farrar and Petacci on purpose. He was just crushing and wasn't really going in much of a straight line.

pretty amazing that after a 7 day stage race and 700 miles, the 1 and 2 end up with the same exact time to the second.

on M-S:
i don't see cav repeating, he hasn't shown the form yet.
hincapie hasn't done much yet, maybe he will ride for ballan?
the astana roster looks like garbage.
not super impressed with thor yet.
liquigas looks strong, they have a couple riders who threaten.
i feel like boss hog will be marked out of contention.

I think the intent was pretty clear, he was looking to win the race.

I imagine Farrar is getting pretty irritated with that sort of thing at this point.

That was bad. Seeing him lying on the street and curled up into a ball was disheartening. Scared the shit out of me. How often do you see something like that happening?

Also, I sure hope Hushovd is in good enough form to defend the green @ Le Tour! Haussler needs to get well soon!

Yeah I hate to admit it but Cav is either gonna be a late bloomer or .....? Speaking of Highroad guys, I wanna see some more Greipel action.

I think we're most certainly gonna see some moves by Liquigas in Milan-SanRemo. Also I'm really curious to see Cadel progress, I was almost thinking he could take T-R.

Cavendish has been mentioning he's been having some difficulty recovering from a dental problem. Word on the street says he had a tooth pulled without the use of anesthetic. There was some nerve damaged in the process. Scary stuff!

Griepel is somebody to keep an eye on! He's strong and has hopes of winning the World Champion jersey for his home country of Germany. Can he do it? We'll see!

Milan-San Remo is pretty unpredictable in terms of organization for a bunch sprint. Your leadout guys need to make it up and down the Poggio first.

I think Saxo Bank is probably bringing the best team in terms of all the different possible ways the race could play out.

Nice read.

My prediction is a winning break that says away this year, with Andy Schleck kicking things off on the Poggio with a particularly brutal "softener". He fades, but the few that are able to bridge up to him take it to the line.

Friere beat Boonen to the line by two spencer lengths. Surprised? I am. Boonen's been performing very consistently; there's Tirreno-Adriatico, Qatar... and? To add to that list a 2nd place finish today at Milan-San Remo a race that he's almost won before?

Cervelo has said Hushovd is in fine form due to his 6th place finish today. I hope so!

I haven't heard much pertaining to Carlos Sastre. Does he expect to be a challenge for the GC in this year's Tour?

Well, he had a tough race, but did you hear the interview he did with sporza? Got caught behind a crash once, caught back on the peloton, then crashed himself, caught back up again, but was out of steam. It's no surprise that he wasn't on form, but he did suggest that the climbs were easier than he expected them to be, which is good news for him.

@aerobear: Clinger had it coming to him. I must of read somewhere that he was suspended for sometime. Good that he's being banned and hopefully it'll serve as a warning. Will it be effective? I couldn't tell you.

I'm really disappointed to hear that cyclists are still doping. So many people have been caught already (Bjarne Riis, Ivan Basso, David Millar, etc), why try beating the system and risk everything you've worked for? To me, it doesn't make very much sense.

I shouldn't say this. I'm positive Lance Armstrong is clean. I can't explain it, I just know! Armstrong is the only cyclist that could begin cheating, yes, right now(!) and walk away without any consequences. Not even a slap on the wrist. Why? Think of the millions of people that identified themselves with his Livestrong foundation and everything it's meant to everyone. Not only would many many many people be let down... but to have a seven time consecutive Tour de France winner using illegal performance enhancing substances? That would destroy cycling forever.

Oh... by the way, I can't wait for the Volta a Catalunya and to see all of the videos and highlights. Andy Schleck is looking for a win. Hope he finds what he's looking for!

Wow.

I'm amazed that you believe this. Needless to say, stating definitively one way or the other whether he is doping is a surefire way to bring on a shit-storm in a cycling forum.

I'm agnostic on the topic. There's really never going to be any way to know definitively. If he is doping, he's the best and will never get caught. Every time this discussion comes up, I go to youtube and find real-time footage of the 2000 tour stage up Ventoux. The last year of the EPO decade.

I feel pretty certain that a number of riders are still artificially elevating their hematocrit, but with the biological passport and all, they're limited to the degree in which they can do that. As such, it becomes more of a leveling agent than a doping prevention agent.
