Three shops have failed on Mercer Island in the past ~3 years. Either it'll be a great captive market, or a total failure.

Is the one with all the old bikes by the ferry dock still there?

I don’t normally post links from reddit but when I do

https://www.reddit.com/r/KeepOurNetFree/comments/7b8phs/i_sent_my_congresswoman_an_email_regarding_net/

They’re about net neutrality

Please washingtonbros, call your representatives and ask for them to keep net neutrality.

https://www.callmycongress.com

All you have to do is:
1. Be nice, thank the person that answered the phone
2. Tell them that you are their constituent and you want them to keep net neutrality because freedom of the internet is important.

SBP was fun for one winter but I couldn't deal with how much they charged for entry.

60$ a month for climbing, sauna, yoga, and a gym?

Yeah, $68 monthly fee is no bueno for my interest level.
Great place though, really enjoyed my experience and glad that so many people are willing to support them.

Cranksgiving is on Saturday starting at 11 at Swift. Fun day of choose your own adventure riding around town, picking up food for the Rainier Valley Food Bank. Like an alleycat, but the foodbank is the winner!

Wanna hold hands?

Ooh, I didn't know they had a sauna.. that got my attention, plus I need to get into some sort of workout routine. I have a punch card at Vertical World b/c it's close to supgirl's, but they don't have much of a gym, and no sauna. I live rather close to SBP but have never been.. However, I'm spending all my money on winter gear, lift tickets and new tires. So, maybe after I'm done chasing snowstorms.

Last year I rode the cycletruck up to Mighty-O donuts and brought back a heuge box to share, perhaps that should become a tradition.

I’d be happy to help. We can carry them on my basket bike.

Dudes if you have been to Vashon and haven’t tried at least one thing from Vashon Island baking company you are absolutely doinitwrong.

Holy shit the maple bar is a croissant
And they have this croissant pizza roll called “bobs burger”

They’re $4ish a piece but I’m told they have some almond and ALMOND CHOCOLATE CROISSANTS. I mean if I could find a job eating croissants for a living I’d want it to be here.

Haven't been there yet but a few months ago we stopped at Snapdragon on Vashon and it was really great too.

I’m gonna be in Seattle Dec 27-Jan 2nd visiting sup’s fam. I’ve never been and most likely won’t have a bike with me but plan on seeing as much as I can. Sup’s family moved out there while she was in college so she’s also not familiar. Any recommendations?

Mostly bikes, vegan food and architecture. Also realized that Alaska Air allows bikes for $25... so may bring along the h/g.

Maybe I am jaded from being a Seattle bike shop dude, but for bikes, where there are a shit ton of shops, there are few I would consider a destination. The best is probably Peloton, which has a legitimately great kitchen while being a fully functional bike (mostly repair) shop, and down the road is Metier, which looks very attractive over the internet, but is really limp and boring IRL. Lots of high end bikes there, but they're really married to the whole EuroPRO thing (yawn). Swift has a new shop downtown which is definitely worth stopping in at, if you're into the whole thing with bespoke fop chariot bags.

Vegan food is goddamn everywhere, of course. Recommendations really depend on in what part of town you are staying.

I don't know anything about architecture.

There's less vegan food than you'd think. It's around, but wouldn't classify it as everywhere. Araya's Thai is vegan. Also Pizza π and dark bar. We should do a dark bar Meetup for pizzabeers. It's the only good happy hour in Seattle atmo.

I'm not talking necessarily about 100% vegan restaurants, but it's fair to say that, in basically every Seattle neighborhood, there are at least a few restaurants with multiple high quality vegan options.

For architecture I'd definitely check out the library downtown.

Smith Tower has an observatory. It's less annoying than the Space Needle.

Oh yeah. The library is pretty fun. Especially walking up to the top floor. Having worked in a library for a few years, I'm not sure how well it actually works. But the building is fun.
