I like beers. And if EJ's excellent mustache is any indication I will like him and Amz as well.

I want a 70 -80ish mile ride leaving from Ballard. what ca got? Ok I am alos willing to drive to beginning of ride.

You could do the Lake Wash loop + Mercer Island. That's about 73 miles, plus from Ballard it'd be an extra 6 or so, I think.

I'd also search through the Seattle Randonneur's "Permanent" routes: http://permanents.seattlerando.org/search/label/100K

If you rode to the start of one of the relatively close-in 100Ks it would definitely bump you up into the distance you're looking to do. Plus, the SIR routes are usually brutally hilly, so even if you didn't quite get the mileage you're looking for, it'd leave you with some sore legs.

I did Lake Wash loop + Mercer Island and got 72.86 but I don;t know if I do the official routs or not anyway nice day for a ride. To bad I bonked at bout mile 35 ....

I think I will do one of the Randonneur's sometime this month.

I know. Crazy. Monday's probably out just because regular band practice night. I'd say Sunday but that's D's birthday.

Oh shit toasty toast. I just caught this.

I can't help you with sleepoverz though. Wife is going out of town (to Portland, strangely) the following morning and it'd kind of be a party foul to have someone spend the night on our last night together for awhile.

But you should skip the STP and chill in Seattle for a couple of days. We can drink beerz and watch Indiana Jones or something like that.

There's a nice little campsite out on Bainbridge Island. I don't remember what it's called, though.

I'm pretty sure you can camp at Saltwater State Park. It's on the water between Seattle and Tacoma. There's also Dash Point State Park in Federal way, but I haven't been there before and I don't know how nice it is.

I'm sure there's some guerilla camping that you can do around town, but I'm not sure where.

Apparently you can also rent a cabin at Camp Long in West Seattle for $40. Much more badass than getting a stupid hotel room IMO.

Sorry on the slow response.

I just ran it by the GF. She's fine with it, so if you still need a place to crash, you're welcome to the couch in our tiny apartment.

My goal is to be asleep by 9 or 9:30 on Friday night since I'll probably have to be up around 3:45 in order to be over to the startline before 4:45 so as long as you're not planning on a rowdy friday night, it should work out.

that would be awesome man. i'm actually trying to do the ride back with 1-day STPers (not registered, so won't get anything other than water, bring my own food), so this could work out nicely.

my # is 971 230 8142, gimme a call or text sometime before thurs.

gracias!

mid-lateish afternoon? camping in st. helens area thurs night. if you have other plans/activities, i'd hate to hold you up, so i can certainly kill time in the city if needed (although i guess you're probably chilling, since nite before STP)

(edit -- as in mt st helens, not the st helens town that's like 30 miles outside of portland)

Yeah, I'm planning on keeping it low key. Big old pasta dinner (maybe some baked mac and cheese) which you're more than welcome to join in on, a couple of beers to help me get drowsy, then hit the hay.

I work from home, so I'll probably be around when you get to the city.

That route looks fine to me. Lot of bike path, then once you cross over the West Seattle bridge that's pretty much the way I'd go.

Anybody know the legality of riding on the beaches around here? (Maybe Scrub knows as a park guy?)

Ever since coming across this blog post about riding the beaches around Lake Michigan, I've been wanting to try riding on a beach. I've got 1.95 semi-slicks on my LHT. Certainly not as good as a Pugsley, but i think if I aired them down to around 20-25psi it might work.

It seems like it'd be really awesome to do a low-tide ride from Golden Gardens to Carkeek, but probably not worth it if I'm facing some huge fine for doing so.

You can come and ride on my beach! I only made it half way across this morning (200 yards or so) riding on sand is really hard even on 32 cross tires at loooww pressure.

I would say you'd be fine as long as you were not riding past military installations or other posted no trespassing signs, I mean who's going to give a guy on a bike a ticket?

I thought that might be it. I did that race. Fuck that beach. It was so hard to ride and run on. I went over the bars on the first or second lap because some dude went down right in front of me and I grabbed a fist full of brake to avoid hitting him. Soft landing though, so that was nice.

If I only do one cross race this season it'll be that one, I have to be there anyway and I get a union mandated 30 minute break so it is only right.

I was thinking just doing Mercer Island. My wife is going to a baby shower and taking the little dude so I'll have a little time to get a ride in (her idea).

If you have a bike, the Chilly Hilly route around Bainbridge Island is pretty nice, and the Classic Cycles bike "museum" is pretty awzum.

Friday night track racing at Marymoor.

I havent been tarcking much lately trying to get more reading done, and catching up on life since I had little free time training for the tri. Though I am about to kick in to training for the seattle marathon.

Brent and I are going to Seattle again this weekend. I'd say we should all hang out, but you guys seem pretty busy being old guys and stuff :-)

Brent wants to race this circuit race on Saturday and I think I'm also racing the Seward Park season ender Sunday...

Hi, Amy.

I'll have to check with the Social Director, but Seward Park sounds pretty awesome. It's beautiful down there. Would love to come down for a few hours. Do you know what time your race is?

Brent just texted me to says we have no where to stay yet smiley He's not a very good planner I guess.

My race at Seward is earlyish.. 11:10am start time IIRC. Brent's race is later, early afternoon, I think the last race of the day is around 3.
