Good deal, but I'm going Shimergo when Ribble gets the Veloces back in stock. I'm feeling frisky.

I also decided that I'm done with eBay because I'm totally turned off by Paypal at the moment. I had some stuff shipped to my work instead of my house and they froze my account. They told me to confirm through the bank account stuff, and when I did they told me that I had to confirm my address by sending in a copy of my electric bill. I kind of felt like I was being jerked around and have decided not to deal with them for a bit.

I'm only saying "a bit," because I know that I'm a soft willed motherfucker and I'm gonna get my stuff hooked back up at some point.

Do any of you do allycats? There's one tomorrow that benefits the Counterbalance race team. I've only done a few allycats, they're not really my thing so I'm kind of in the air about going. But the roller racing afterwards sounds fun and is really close to my apt.

I have the same question. I'm 90% sure i'm going to go. I have a list of smallish parts that I can probably get for cheep at the swap (silver 25.4 quill stem, bar end shifters, road fenders, a rear rack). A mixed bag of stuff that I can see people selling at a swap.

I'm going to try and line up at 8:30. I think Becky's coming with. Say hi if you see a blond guy on a blue LHT with gray panniers and a brown haired girl on a blue Trek 400 with flat bars and downtube shifters.

got photos of the Trek?

Planning to be there about 9:00. will say hi if....

This is going to be a great opportunity for S to get to look at lots of bikes. Some version of a flat bar road bike is in the works. She does not ride much now,(but wants to) so I don't know if she will like reaching for DT shifters.

Michael, I saw a Soma mixte at Sammamish Valley Cycle the other day and chatted with the owner it was really sweet but one of the really cool things were the DT shifters on pods on the city bars. I think he said they were IRD but that may be perfect for a flat bar city bike, in fact get a frame at the swap meet and maybe I'll sell you the 8 speed campy stuff I have (wheels/brake callipers/derailleurs) then you guys can be almost matchy!

I think they must be the second ones here

Also I just looked at map my ride and realized that I totally made up my own Lake Washington loop. Still 51 miles but way different. to start with I went across the I-90 bridge, I need to start looking at maps before my outings not after ....

Once I get a 9sp indexed shifter for the wife bike, I'm gunna have a set of Shimano friction pods that I'll sell you for cheap. They're in super good shape, but they're an unknown (probably lower end) spec. They seem super durable though.

But speaking from experience, friction plus an inexperienced rider can be an ass pain sometimes. And that is why I'm hunting for what I'm hunting for.

Yeah. Becky's first experience with shifting was on friction downtube shifters. She hated it with all her might for the first couple months, but got used to it and has no qualms with it now.

EDIT: I take it back ... Becky says she might want the 9 speed shifters I just offered to the internet.

I skipped out on Chilly Hilly. I've done the route 3 times on my own, and while it would probably be more fun with a group, 6000+ people is a little too many. I did the Seattle Rando's 100k spring populaire in Renton. It was great and kicked my ass. Tiger mountain is a very very big hill.

I think I will be doing this rout solo (or with tarkers soon) possibly Wednesday, thought I might try to ride the real Lake Washington Loop.

Anyone in for a long ride on the 13th?

Yeah. It was mainly number of people that made it shitty. Between the jocks, the freds, and the hipsters pirating the ride it was too much.

I'm gonna go on record and say this is a jackass time/place to hold an alleycat. There are enough inexperienced/reckless cyclists on the road already without adding this crap to the mix.

I'm up for a real LWL on the 13th.

I might join on LWL next Sunday. Depends. I might also do the SIR 200k brevet. Not sure if I'm game for a 9-10 hour ride next weekend though. It's such a big time commitment, makes it tough to do ... anything else that day.

I assume you're referring to the Point83 race. I agree. It just seems silly to "pirate" a ride in the name of .... what, proving you're still young and cool? I dunno. Cascade bike club might be full of neon vest wearing freds, but the club does good work on behalf of cyclists in Seattle from what I've seen/read.

Yeah. The .83 race. I mean, sure. Chilly Hilly takes place on public roads. Paying to do it is definitely optional in that sense, so whatever.

I just remember these kids swarming off the ferry (which is chaotic enough as it is), then taking up the oncoming traffic lane trying to pass everyone. Basically, making a few thousand people who are just minding their own business and trying to get through the ride with their gel saddles and neon vests without dying a part of your personal obstacle course is kinda lame.

My sense of time is off apparently. The 200k is two sundays from now.

I might be able to the LWL if it's early, but my sister is flying in that day for a visit and it might not fly if I told her she had to find her own way to my place because I was on a bike ride.

I got a stem, a set of friction bar end shifters. I also bought a pair of bib shorts for $5. A little bit gross, but after a good washing it should be fine. Not nearly as much as I wanted to get, but I'm on a really tight budget until my next pay check from my new job comes (it's contract work and the dude is le suck at paying in regular intervals. It's a pain).

It seems like there were some excellent deals to be had on complete bikes, but also a lot of craigslist-esq crappy 10 speeds marked up to $150.

Probably need to be after 10, and that's if my cold clears up and my knees feel less shitty than they do right now. Shows at the Mars Bar have to be done by midnight (apartments above the bar), but with all the gear loading/transporting/unloading that still means getting into bed 1-1:30-ish at the earliest.

Here's a weird poster-ish thing with some details and the Seattle Weekly writeup for anyone interested in going to the show. I'm playing a set of my stuff (w/band) and with Louis in The Graze. Should be a good time.

Buncha random parts mostly.

If I ever get around to putting drops on the Bruce Gordon you/she can have the Altus trigger shifters (7 speed triple) that are on there. They suck ass, but you can have em'.
