Can the supernova e3 tail light work without the e3 front? Is it just the standlight that wont work?

it doesn't work at all with other headlights

it's also pretty shitty, if you want that form factor get the new B&M Mini

The latest supernova taillight (tl2) does work with ac headlights but no standlight function. Definitely tested and working with an eyc.

I bumped the wire coming out of my light and both strands within it are showing copper. It's too high up the wire to have any room to cut the wire and redo the connector. Assuming the light is sealed and I can't open it up and fix it there, is there a good way for me to waterproof the exposed wire, or am i doomed?

Not quite hubchat, but let me ask this here:

Luxos U or Edelux II?

I like that the Luxos has a charger, but is it actually useful or does it charge way too slow?

I am loving my SP 9mm axle one. Its was a special Exposure branded deal with the Revo light. Awesome light with an amazing standlite. The Schmidt fall down badly in this department, although I have never heard of a Schmidt failure, mostly cos I only know one person well-heeled enough to buy one : ) There is currently an issue with the SP thru-axle models, and they are redesigning the thing. So glad I got the 9mm.

My understanding was that the 9mm adapter was too long for a few models, but has since been corrected. Mine spins correctly. I don't know if there is a separate issue.

I think the bearings on the disc side are failing. I am pretty sure they have stopped selling them and the fix will be available at the end of the year. I am not sure if its a retro fix or they just replace the hub. I know a few people effected by it. It does appear quite random. Some people have no problems, some people, it happens in a few weeks. They are pretty good at sorting people out, but its not good for their brand. Plenty of people used them on the TD with no probs.

so my headlight was dimming whenever i used the front brake. found out that it was because the taillight connectors (not connected to anything) were touching and shorting it out.

What do I need to hook it to a cyo up front?

Whoa, that's weird!
Did you look in the little triangular box section at the base the packaging?
you need QTY 4 of 2.8mm x 0.5mm female "Push-on" Crimp Receptacles
You can use a couple different wire types.

I would contact the vendor or manufacturer and see if they will send you some

That sucks because B&M recently started shipping some quick connect plastic pieces with the Secula so you don't need the crimps for the cable to Secula attachment.

Those are great until you disconnect them and leave them laying around for the cats to gnaw on and deform so they don't fit in the light housing anymore...

Admittedly this was ebay because it was about $16 for the light and $5 for shipping vs germanland shipping of 20ish. I guess that is what I get.
lulz, it was wrapped in a plastic dog poop size bag, then some construction paper stuff, then a 8x10" box.

Still better than the crimp connector stuck and ripped the male part out of the board when you're trying to wriggle it loose. I had to crack mine open to fix it.

I say Luxos just because it is way cheaper. I say that as an Edelux II user. Unless aesthetics are important to you. My reasoning was that the Edelux is probably more durable and it sure is prettier.

I ended up ordering from peter white coz easier than crimping and stripping and sealing shit with tools I don't have.

Cool, IIRC the shipped from manufacturer Secula comes with a long wire that has one end pre-crimped. If he sends you a new model then it will come with those plastic pieces so you shouldn't need any tools!

yep, squirrel is correct.

frank - when you wire up the light, make sure you have enough length. i went dt -> chainstay -> fender stay, tightened all the zipties, and i didn't have enough length at the end to connect the taillight -- had to go back and redo it.

My Luxos front lens is all loose. Don't remember it being that way when new. Haven't seen any sign of water intrusion from the few times it rained here though.

The luxos charger works well. It's quite fast on the flats, but if you leave your phone plugged it while climbing it may end up draining the battery by making the screen come on too often. I lost the cable and didn't miss it.

I'd just get the cyo premium if you don't need the charger.

After breaking the lamp bracket on the Luxos U last weekend you better make sure your mounting game is dialed on your new Geekhouse. That lamp has some serious destructive mass to bounce around.
I'm having a helluva time trying to construct a new bracket at home. It's hard to find thin enough steel stock at hardware stores. I found a decent piece of brass but didn't realize how much heavier brass is compared steel for nearly the same size (double the weight on my scale). After digging through my parts bin I discovered that I had a second VO lamp bracket so I tried bending it into a different shape than before to increase rigidity. Got everything dialed and went for a ride only to discover the new shape puts the lamp too close to the porteur platform and every small bump in the road has enough force to slam the light into the rack tubing. smiley
Back to the drawing board.

I loved that dark ride home from the bar when both of our dynamo lamp brackets were rendered non-functional and mine was pointing at the sky while yours was pointing at the ground. Camping headlamps to the rescue!

Thanks for the suggestion but that would never work for my rack and lamp. I have a Haulin Colin rack from an early run where he must have fulfilled a special request for mounting that upside down hanging edelux.
Those would be too short and have too many collisions with lamp body and wires exiting lamp.
Custom bracket from flat stock is pretty much the only option.

I think you should get the new IQ-X when it starts shipping in the next few months

it natively allows you to flip the mount for hanging it, with a bigger better beam and almost assuredly cheaper than the edelux

then do the trickle-down light upgrade shuffle

I'm halfway through doing that in my dyno fleet

are you using the wald stays? if so, i attached my cyo by bolting a disc brake adapter to the dongle tab that connects the bottom of the basket to the stay, and mounting the lamp to the disc brake adapter. i had to drill out the stay hole ever so slightly to fit a standard M5 bolt.
