Should I buy a rear aerospoke for our tandem? Haven’t had any wheel trying woes yet but I feel like it’s just a matter of time.

Ok, so I think I'm gonna build myself a pure road bike for summer exercise rides. I have probably 85% of the parts to build it including a sweet ass 1" threadless Renolds fork and CK headset. I'd like to spend less than $200 on the frameset.
Some contenders:
Awesome Clark Kent with a TT that might be a bit too long for me:https://www.ebay.com/itm/Clark-Kent-57cm-Steel-Frame-Carbon-Fork-Vintage...
An RB-1 that will probably far exceed my price range: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1994-Bridgestome-RB-1-frameset-56cm/263541005395?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649
WTF even is this thing? Seems like it could be cool though https://www.ebay.com/itm/Velo-Schauff-Vintage-Columbus-Steel-Road-Bike-Frameset-Nashbar-Carbon-Fork-56cm/162940967580?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649
Is this a total gas-pipe jobber?: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Miyata-912-Road-Bike-Frame-Set-55TT-58ST-Lugged-Steel-English-Threaded/401451067849?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649
Way more than I want to pay, but so goddamn awesome and a perfect fit: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Steelman-Road-Bike-Frame-Set-56TT-58ST-Steel-English-Threaded/401451500234?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649

Also, didn't a lot of those LeMonds have weird seatpost sizes?

Dude, I have a 1997 LeMond Reno frame that I'd sell you for madddd cheap son.

I can measure it when I get home tonight.

Seatpost is normal 27.2 I think, same size as the nerdavinden I replaced it with.

Frame, Fork, Headset- 1 hundo + actual ship

I don't think you'd be able to get much more than a 28 in there. This thing is tukt.

I ride a 57 and it fit me very well. I'll get actual tube measurements tonight.

LBS has a tandem that is probably getting its aerospokes replaced with standard wheels, so if you're regretting it now I can see if they plan to sell them.

Naturally, this bike is partially tarck's fault.

Here's that LeMond.

It's got a 57cm TT and a 56.5cm ST (center-center)

It has a 113mm UN55 installed, I can remove that if you like. The stem is 80mm. I'd estimate that the BB has less than 1000 miles on it (I installed it last year.)

As pictured it weighs 8lb. The paint is as you'd expect from a 20 year old frame. I couldn't find any dents, but there are the usual amount of chips and scratches.

Specs can be found here in the 1997 catalog:
https://archive.org/stream/LemondBicycles1997Catalog/_1997Lemond#page/n9/mode/2up

Rusty, that Miyata has a hi-ten fork, which probably means that the rest of the bike ain't so great. Likely chromoly "main tubes" and unbutted or hi-ten crap everywhere else.

The Steelman is far-and-away the best one on that list. You should make a lowball offer and see if they bite. Or else get an old Trek or LeMond, since those seem to be the most under-valued on these types of frames. And any Trek-era LeMond is going to have a 27.2 seatpost.

He has a miyata, trek, diamondback, bridgestone, and a claude butler in similar sizeways and vintage. I will drop by to take pics and measurements.

The 88 Tempo! It seems appropriately Chicago for Rusty. Tenax is good stuff, especially for a bigger rider.

Now they have 58 and 60 in stock. Where do they keep finding them??

After shipping and currency conversion I was in for ~650, which probably isn't the deal of the century but considering that it's a superexcellent bike that's not made anymore I was OK with it.
