Put new shoes on the cross-check. Considering that my wheelbuilder's straggler has horizons on it, and they're within 2mm of rubbing the chainstays, I'm really, really happy about this. I do need to re-seat the bead on these though, because drunken me couldn't get them on straight at 11pm last night. I figure once they've spent a day inflated it should be easier, that was the case with the hetres that used to be on here.

Can't. Wait. For. Tubeless.

I have those same tires tubeless on my grando. Get to it already! its worth it

Yeah, rims are taped already, just gotta get some valves and orange juice and decide if I want to fuck with it myself or take it to the shop and have them put the compressor on it.

I had to use a total of 6 spacers for the Duo on the Elephant.
4 on the mid fork barrel (one on each side), 2 at the drop out.
Tubus included 4 spacers and I used 2 slightly smaller spacers from my hardware bin.
I didn't realize you could cold set this rack.

can only really cold set it when it's close, and on our slimmer forks the dropout spacers are usually necessary

I've thought about supergluing the spacers to the rack to make it one object

IME superglue is not your boyfriend for hardware. JB weld seems to keep metal stuck together better as much as i am loathe to use it (but secretly i think it's pretty cool)

Put on some Chunder Burps and zip tied a file basket to the rack.

I think this thing is gonna get Jones bars and hydros when tax return time comes around.

Also someone should let me borrow some 27.5+ wheels.

it's a second generation Slingshot from http://erbbikes.com

the Riser Barsket is the EVO Brooklyn that's on super sale from Hawley, and weighs more than 3x as much as the carbon fork

The magura brakes still need a trim/bleed, and the KS eTENi has a dead air cartridge. I bought Metrea cranks for it but everything hits the chainstays, and the BB is really high so I just used my old 190mm cranks. They currently have 42/26 chainrings, need to mod the spider to fit a 46/30 triplizer I got.

The wheels/tires are loaners, still have to pick whether to hand-me-down the 650b wheels from my Elephant or build a new 26" set for this, will probably decide based on fender fitment

I like to imagine Fred doing 18 months worth of research before deciding to buy all of these exact parts to built this exact bicycle.

And he's going to have a multi-page article about the build in the next issue of BQ.

Only a little bit, it's ~415mm a-c, where an old Fox 32 100mm sagged 20% is ~450mm

It's def steeper than 73/71 right now, but I need to take real measurements, especially since the whole bike sags when you sit on it

I may end up making a lower headtube cup extension for it to correct the geometry

I bought one of the old Eighth Inch sweet fixie barspin ones but big surprise it was dimensionally off, just dropped right in without a press fit

Sadly, no. The cops called the day after I installed the last piece on this one. Fuckhead who took it singlespeeded it and the cops are skeptical that it's mine. So if I get it back, it only be frame/fork, cranks (both rings!), brakes and seatpost.

Keep your serial numbers, people.

Also, level your seat before you post it, dammit.
