Did you chug a Mountain Dew somewhere in there?

Will having a "real track crankset" make any difference in your bolts' tendency to loosen?

Either tighten chainring bolts with a lubricant or a threadlocker.

Today I swapped out 12-26 cassette for something with a more narrower range. It made the commute pleasant, if I need a bailout gear, I can always, you know, use the triple. Also, tossed the derailleur into the ultrasonic cleaner. It was encrusted with funk. Aligned the derailleur hanger, lubricated and re-installed derailleur. Rode 10 miles.

Why are you riding on rollers when you could be riding outside? Unless of course it happens to be raining in California, but wtf?

Put a WCS bar on my breed and tarcked it out with a red anno moby post and red bar tape. Looks surprisingly good with the not-quite-celeste paint job. I also rode it to work today.

Do you think it doesn't rain in california? Seattle gets 56% of the rainfall that we get here (humboldt).

I f###in hope so!!

Even with proper assembly (and re-assembly), including grease, these things have never held well. I'm just too much man for them, or something. This has been an ongoing issue from day one, since I brought it home from the shop (where ostensive experts assembled it).

Good call on both. I like Pearl's for the wider range of adjustabilty and Fizik bar tape rocks.

Well I just took out garbage and on the way back in kicked the rear fender/wheel around a bit until it got reasonably cleared of hardpacked frozen snow/ice shit. Made me think I should take the habit of shaking it out when I get home since it's still fresh and soft, then I wouldn't have to kick it.

The difference is that you have like 9 months of constant rainy/gloominess, whereas Miami is more sunny than anything, just getting a few torrential downpours.

i got a new seatpost today
i went to LBS and asked for one, and the dude went in the back and was like "the only one we got in that size with an integrated clamp is this vintage campy thing"
and i was like "how much?" and he looked at the sticker and it said $80 and he was like "huh, don't know about that" and peeled the sticker off and was like "i'll give it to you for 35 bucks"
and i was like "deal"

lol. I doubt it. . . But living in Seattle, one thing I noticed was that most rainy days, at least part of the day was nice. There was like a month though, when I'm pretty sure I never saw the sun.

On topic, I rode tarcky around like a jackass looking for the UPS store. I felt like a real life messenger.

Lessee: Rode it 20 miles on an LBS tour. Picked up some white race blades (hella matchy match), picked up some Paselas for the girl bike. Put 'em on, at which point, the girl explained to me that she didn't like gumwall. Replaced headset and installed fenders, but only after I got soaked riding home in the rain.

Today I converted a 12-25 cassette to 13-32. I managed to find a brand new 13 tooth shimano top cog for a 9 speed cassette at the bike co-op. This is important because your smallest cog needs to have serrations to hold the lockring on. I filed the rivet heads off an old and busted LX mountain cassette and got off the 28 and 32 cogs, as well as a couple of spacers. The cogs have little wear because I don't need those low gears too often. So,

12-13-14-15-17-19-21-23-25 became
13-15-17-19-21-23-25-28-32.

The new cassette has 2 tooth spacing all the way up from 13, then a 3 tooth and 4 tooth step up to the last two granny gears, respectively. This is the first 9 speed cassette I've ever had that actually makes some sense for my style of riding.

Also washed the bike, cleaned the whole drivetrain and braking system, replaced some brake pads and got all the pads toed in properly. It feels like a new bike day and i only spent £1 (on the 13 tooth cog).

I've patched four tubes. Two left but I ran out of patches and glue. At some point after buying 12 tubes from chainlove I just stopped patching so I needed to play catch up. Fixed the flat on my fixed then cleaned it up. Put clips and old leather straps on my road bike. Cleaned it and changed the chain. I'm about to bring my new to me mixte up and take it apart and clean everything up. Apparently when my girl has to work on valentines day I just play with bikes all day.
